Treena's Travels

This blog was set up to journal my experience of living in Nunavut and keep friends and family up to date on these happenings. It's a wonderful place, this hideaway in the north, and I'm loving my time here. An unforgettable place with unforgettable people. I'm lucky to be here.

Well, it's after 2 am on Saturday, July 1st and I'm sitting here in a questionable motel room in Stettler, AB. As far as motels go, I would have to give this one about a 1 1/2 star due to the curious stains on the rug, the door half falling off of the mini refrigerator, the greasy hand prints on the walls, the coffee pot literally stuck to the machine, and the rowdy neighbours we have. It's actually kind of comical. Like something I might expect to see in a Jim Carrey movie.

I'm staying at this hotel because we in town for a family reunion. Should be a fun time and good to catch up with everyone, especially our visitors from Enland and Scottland.

So far I've been very busy since coming home from Baker. I was home for a week, stopped off in Edm and dropped Oli off with my friend Lisa (HUGE thank you Lisa!!!!) and then off and running to see my sister and her husband in Calgary. Then I visted a couple of friends in Calgary and am now I'm here. I've been lugging my suitcases around for 10 days now and I'm a bit weary from it. But, soon I'll be picking up my boy and heading to PR for the rest of the summer, except for a weekend with the girls in July. That will be a fun time.

Since coming to AB, Oliver has discovered water, sticks, and trees and, after some trepidation, seems to love them all. He is especially taken with his new friends Bel and Shelby! Here are some pics (I know, I'm a dog freak).

Bel showing Oliver that he needs to set higher goals in the stick department.

Now that's a stick!

Asleep on the couch with the remote after a hard day playing... he's such a guy! :-)

And here's a picture of something I've waited a very long time to see... a fire. Ahh the simple pleasures we take for granted (that's my mom with the glasses in the background).

It's good to be home.
