Treena's Travels

This blog was set up to journal my experience of living in Nunavut and keep friends and family up to date on these happenings. It's a wonderful place, this hideaway in the north, and I'm loving my time here. An unforgettable place with unforgettable people. I'm lucky to be here.

Awww... they grow up so fast.

Well, Oliver is unmistakenly smitten with Tania and Chad's dog Mahkwa. It appears my boy goes for the older women (atta boy!). Mahkwa is about 8 yrs old and is a bit of a tease - here's a picture of Oliver and her (with hair), and then one with a newly groomed doo. No wonder he's hot to trot!!

On a completely unrelated subject, here's a picture of a Muscox head that friends of a friend got. Apparently there's a limit on how many can be hunted per community and so residents who are interested can have their name entered into a draw and several are chosen to hunt them. I haven't seen a live Muscox yet, but I sure hope that I will get to before my time here is over.

And this next picture is of a canoe being made from... barrels. Now, me being pretty uncomfortable with water on my face, I can tell you, I'd never get in this thing! Perhaps it will be safe once the seams are WELDED TOGETHER but I suspect that riding in this I'd end up with water on my face and that's just not a good thing.

This next picture is, obviously, a dog team. While Jacquie was here we were lucky enough to see the dog races. There were four or five teams and this was the winning team.

And this last picture is of all the girls at the 12 plex: Tania, Lynn, me, and Jenesta. We were were taking in the festivities at a summer themed house party. Good times...
